Tips on purchasing your Central Air Conditioner
|
|
Summary: Air conditioner is one utility item which makes you feel relaxed and comfortable in the scorching heat and humidity of a summer afternoon and makes you cherish for it if you don’t have one.
In places with a warm temperature, the central air conditioning systems have become more of a necessity than a luxury. Apart from providing coolness, they absorb the moisture and the humidity in the air and purify it by providing a filtered air.
For people who may be unaware of the terms, a central air conditioning system operates from one location and further distributes cool air throughout the household.
The central air conditioners are not like the small, window- or wall-mounted room air conditioners, which serve to cool a small part; they are designed to spread cool air throughout the house. These systems need a central air management unit like air furnaces or heat work and ducts to distribute cool air in all parts of the house.
This heat pump is the central air conditioning system which can also be used in the cold seasons to provide warmth to the house.
The Cooling capability
The air conditioning system manufacturers produce these systems in different size variations, which we normally measure in "tons" or "BTUs per hour."
The commonly used unit for measuring the output of heat is referred to as BTU (British Thermal Unit). It is equivalent to the energy amount needed to raise a pound of water per degree Fahrenheit. 12,000 BTUs/hour make a ton, which is a term derived from the energy needed to melt a ton of ice in 1 day.
The size of the system does not denote better performance. For cost efficiency, it is important to understand that the more the capacity, the higher will be the cost per unit. So, it is important that the size be chosen as per the house requirement.
An air conditioning system which is undersized won’t be compatible with the load it requires on a relatively warm day. If it is oversized, it will cycle on and off too often, which would affect its air dehumidifying ability, further decreasing its performance in providing comfort. So it is always recommended to use a relatively smaller system than a larger one than required
In addition, there should be a proper balance in the air flowing in and out of the room to get the maximum output.
Keeping all these factors in mind and depending on house insulation, the weather and utilization, it is always suggested to get in touch with a professional air conditioning system contractor, when choosing or designing your central air conditioner.
