Laminate Floating Floors

Summary: Basically of European origin, the laminated flooring is eventually being recognized in the United States and a lot of people have started choosing it over other types of flooring. These floorings resemble the looks of tiles, stones and conventional wooden floors.

Laminated flooring surface is a highly detailed photographic image which is covered with transparent and highly-durable plastic lamination, which is like the countertop material.

MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), which is a composite of wood, serves as the base material.

It is also backed by another layer to resist moisture leaks which usually damage the floorings.

Such floorings are as floating floors, which means that they you do not have to secure them to the sub-floor

The 3/8 inch thick planks and tongues are secured to each other using adhesive, and at times thin foam layers are also installed below these floorings.

They can be installed over any smooth surface or the existing wooden, tiled or vinyl flooring, however, if a carpet has been installed previously, it will have to be removed.

You can find the installation instructions by the producer in the enclosed package with the flooring.

You should carefully follow the instructions of the manufacturer while installing this flooring in the bathroom. Special care has to be taken to ensure that moisture does not seep through, hence, make sure that the planks are properly sealed and secured.

Not all types of laminated floorings are suited for installation in the bathrooms. So be sure to check this before installing it.
