Septic Tank – Failing of Septic Systems

In such cases, usually the waste water does not pass through and reverts back into the house or you may observe bubbling of liquid in the backyard and this shows that there is a system failure.  

In few cases it is noticed that only a small content of nutrient or biological infectants make way to the water bodies around, even then it means that there is a fault in system though it looks to be operating fine.

Causes of Septic System Failures

In general the septic systems are manufactures with a life span of twenty to thirty years, if they are installed in the best conditions, but at times some of them experience failures. This is mainly because the soil surrounding the absorption field clogs at times and interferes in proper functioning of the system.

There are a number of other reasons for the failing of the septic system prior to their expected lifespan. Improper installation, blocked pipes, soil saturation caused by storm waters, a broken tile, inferior quality or incorrect placement are some of the other reasons which may cause the system to fail.

So far, the most reported reason is lack of proper maintenance by the house owners. It happens when the system is not pumped on timely basis which creates formation of sludge inside the tank. This formation further flow into the absorption field and clogs it, making it irreparable.
