Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans makes your room comfortable and also provide style, both indoors and outdoors. I plan to add more ceiling fans though I already have a number of them. But then I have learnt that buying ceiling fans is like buying any other thing. The brand does matter. You will have to pay more for a ceiling fan that runs quietly and are reliable.
There are difference sizes of ceiling fans for you to choose which depends on your room size. The larger the room, the larger should be the blade span. Blade span of more than 50 inches would be required to cool a large room.
The operation of the ceiling fan is rather simple. Perspiration of our body transfers the body heat to the liquid perspiration. The liquid perspiration on the skin surface evaporates when the breeze blows from the fan across our skin.
The heat from our body is released into the air as the liquid perspiration becomes water vapor. This mechanism is similar to that of the one that triggers the monster hurricanes. As the water evaporates from the warm ocean, the heat in the evaporated water becomes a storm when it is carried upwards.
Large volumes of air have to move out to get the maximum cooling effect. Two important factors that need to be optimized are the pitch or tilt of the fan blades and the distance of the fan from the ceiling. The fan will not get the necessary air if the fan is placed too close to the ceiling for instance, six inches or lesser than this. Sufficient air is required for the fans to push the air down towards the floor. The pushing of the air down towards the floor is achieved by the tilt of the fan blades. They slice through the air pushing it down. The fan operates in just the same way as the propellers of the ships and airplanes. The fan blades cut through the air or water to push the airplanes or ships which weigh tons.
A blade pitch that is 15 degrees function very well in ceiling fans. The manufacturers who take the trouble to make sure that the fan blades and the fans’ hardware are balanced make fans that functions better. It is just like the balancing that is required for fan blade spins in a washing machine or a car wheel. The importance of balance between the ceiling and fan blades can be understood if you have heard the washing machines rattle when on its spin cycle caused due to lose of this balance.
You can also save up the costs of air conditioning with good ceiling fans. The ceiling fans effectively cool your room when they are operated during that part of the day when the sun does not mercilessly beat and heat up your house. If you spend most part of your time in just one part of your home, there is then no need to air condition the whole house. A centrally operated air conditioning system consumes huge amount of electricity when compared to that of ceiling fans.
The level of humidity in your home will be relatively lower than the outside with the air conditioner on the previous day with a well-sealed home. Your sweat from the perspiration, even if you do not feel it, will evaporate because the humidity is lower than the outside.
Installation of ceiling fans in all the places you sit to work or relax such as kitchens, bedrooms and family rooms is indeed a desirable thing to do. It will also be a great idea to install ceiling fans even on a patio which has some sort of covering as a awning or covered screened porch so that water do not fall onto the fan, or a covered screened porch.
You can feel the cooling comfort even when the fan is running at slow speed. Remember that you actually do not need the full blast of air from the ceiling fan for its cooling effect on you.
The speed of the ceiling fan needs to be controlled. So make sure that there is a speed control for the fan that you have purchased. Built-in microprocessors enables the fan to be set at the desirable speed from a wall control. This device is available in a number of models. These also spin in reverse too. This sucks up the air from below driving the warm air from the ceiling down to warm up the lower parts of the rooms during winter months.
