Any of these labels or a combination of the labels should be able to put your mind at ease in the knowledge that you have some great products.

Buying a certified vinyl window is important and I hope you are convinced about it. Sure, all these does confuse someone not familiar with all these stuffs. Three well established and recognized programs cater to the needs for establishment and certification of standards in windows and doors.

They are AAMA-NWWDA, NFRC and the Energy Star window and door certification program. You may then ask, “Which is best of the three?” It is not possible to say which of them is the best. In fact, each of them attests to the quality of different feature of windows. The materials aspect of window is the primary focus for the AAMA-NWWDA program. Thermal performance of the glass is what NFRC and Energy Star certification closely looks at.

The most problematic material with the least effectiveness in terms of shielding the home from heat is glass. So glass which significantly cover windows and in varying degrees the doors, has come to be considered for the insulating factor. The attempt has been to improve the insulating factor of the glass that you use.

More and better energy efficient windows have featured in invisible heat films which are packed in between insulating glass. The invisible films hold the foremost position in the technology. Windows with Low E film is great and so, if you can, you should go for it.

You will be able to find out the current list of manufacturers who meet the Energy Star certification standards in the Energy Star web site. You do not have to feel crestfallen or alarmed if you do not see any manufacturer listed in your area. These products are distributed by another company in your area as most manufacturers have their distributors. Call up your local companies if you do not find recognizable names and check out whether the certified products are available. Check the windows for Energy Star green/blue semi-circle global logo on the windows.
